Why Shaykh Rajab Ali (ra) Delayed Prayer

One day Shaykh Rajab Ali Khayyat (ra) deliberately delayed offering the prayer at foremost timing. After a few minutes, a gentleman came in and Shaykh said: "Now, get up so that we can offer our prayers."

People who were present there asked: "Shaykh, why did you delay the prayer?"

Shaykh Rajab Ali Khayyat (ra) said: "Ask this newcomer."

That newcomer said: "I also tried to be here to offer Salah at foremost timing but when I was coming, I saw a dog with a broken leg and injury. I stayed there to bandage the dog's leg, that's why I ran late."

Shaykh Rajab Ali Khayyat (ra) had delayed the prayers to honor this act of kindness.
