One day when Imam Hassan Mujtaba (as) was sitting in a place and eating, a dog came forward and stood in front of Hazrat (as). Imam Hassan Mujtaba (as) noticed that the dog was hungry, so he would eat one bite himself and give one bite to the dog. 

One of the Prophet's (sawa) companions said to Imam (as): "A dog is a dirty and impure animal. May we take it away from here?"

In response, Imam Hassan Mujtaba (as) said to him: "No! Never do this! Leave him free, this dog is hungry and I am ashamed of God to eat and a hungry animal looks at me begging and be deprived. Because I don't like a creature looking at me while I'm eating and I don't give him anything. Let it be, when it is full, it will go by itself." (Bihar ul Anwar vol 43, p 352)
